Licensing Launch Smoke Test (Gate)

Run on staging with production-like URLs immediately before CodeCanyon ZIP upload. All steps must pass.

Overview

This smoke gate validates Setup Wizard, trial/activate, heartbeat, revoke lock, and re-verify before packaging a buyer ZIP. Pair with Licensing QA Checklist for full coverage.

GitHub Actions

On every PR/push, GitHub Actions runs dotnet test --filter Category=LicensingSmoke ((LicensingLaunchSmokeGateTests). Release builds also run Validate-ReleaseLicensing.ps1 -Strict and tools/Build-CodeCanyonZip.ps1.

Pre-flight

Before manual smoke
  1. tools/Validate-ReleaseLicensing.ps1 -Strict passes (ProductSlug set, ApiKey/HmacSecret not placeholders).
  2. CognitiveCircle: Admin → Licensed Products → CognitixERP row (slug cognitix-erp, ItemId, active).
  3. ERP staging: ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT=Production, SkipInDevelopment: false for real activate test.

Smoke sequence (~30–45 min)

  1. Fresh install — extract ZIP, run API + WebApp, open /setup.
  2. Step 1 — SQL server + your database name + URLs → Continue (“Preparing your database…” 3–8 min → Step 2).
  3. Step 2 — Create admin (strong password) → login test.
  4. Step 3 — Trial (Production env) → CognitiveCircle Trial row; OR Development + SkipInDevelopment for local dev only.
  5. Step 3 — Activate (second staging install or reset DB): real purchase code → Active, Regular/Extended on License page, LicensedItemId in DB.
  6. WebApp config — copy/download JSON → wwwroot/appsettings.json before publish test.
  7. Heartbeat — wait or trigger API restart; CognitiveCircle LastHeartbeatAt updates (with license JWT on non-Development CC).
  8. Admin revoke — CC Inactive/Revoked → ERP locks on next heartbeat or Re-verify (not 72h grace).
  9. Re-verify — Settings → License → Re-verify succeeds.
  10. Lock check — backdate TrialEndsAt → only License page accessible.
